What we do
The Proteomics Platform has the following functions:
- Serve as a liaison between the researcher and the analysis platform
- Offer advice and support in the design of studies according to the researcher's needs (in the presentation of projects and in defining the minimum size of comparison groups required according to the type of proteomic analysis to be performed)
- Offer advice and support in obtaining/preparing samples before sending them for analysis to specialized units
- Perform the analysis and interpretation of data generated by mass spectrometry techniques (LC-MS/MS) with the help of available bioinformatics tools and databases (Max Quant, Perseus, Amica, Skyline)
- Provide support in in silico analyses that support or confirm results (Cytoscape, String, Reactome, Webgestalt, etc.)
Equipment
The Sant Pau Research Institute has participated, through FEDER funds, in the joint purchase with the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the Vall d'Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL), the Germans Trias Institute for Health Science Research and the University of Barcelona (UB) of a state-of-the-art mass spectrometer (Thermo Scientific™ Orbitrap Eclipse™ Tribrid™), physically located at the CRG.
This acquisition highlighted the need to create the Proteomics Platform with the aim of meeting the needs of researchers at the IR who wanted to make use of these techniques to address their research lines.
