The Sant Pau Research Institute (IR Sant Pau), founded in 1992, is a CERCA centre, accredited as a Health Research Institute by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (ISCIII), and one of the leading biomedical research institutes in Catalonia.

The Sant Pau Research Institute

IR Sant Pau, linked to the Hospital, promotes excellence in biomedical research and innovation aimed at advancing the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, with the mission of improving people's health and quality of life and the vision of becoming an international benchmark in translational biomedical research.

The Institute conducts translational research that connects basic science with clinical practice in order to accelerate the arrival of scientific advances to patients. Its scientific activity is structured around five major research areas: cardiovascular diseases; onco-haematological diseases; neurological diseases, neuroscience and mental health; epidemiology, public health and primary care; and translational medicine.

Mariona’s Adventure

The project "Mariona’s Adventure" is an educational and outreach initiative developed by the Sant Pau Research Institute.

Through workshops, activities, and scientific talks, it seeks to inspire girls and boys to explore the world of scientific research and also highlight the role of women in science. It features real-life examples of female researchers who share their professional and personal experiences with the goal of promoting gender equality in this field.
