About the Unit / Research Group
The Epilepsy Unit, integrated into the Neurology Department of Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, carries out leading clinical, teaching, and research activities in the field of epilepsy, developmental and epileptic encephalopathies, rare diseases presenting with epilepsy, and clinical neurophysiology (quantitative EEG).
The Unit actively participates in national and international clinical trials, particularly those focused on the development of disease-modifying treatments, and promotes high-quality translational research to advance the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.
Essential requirements
- Minimum qualification required: PhD or specialist qualification (MIR, QUIR, FIR, BIR), or more than 4 years of demonstrable experience in the specific area of work.
- Oral and written knowledge of the two official languages of Catalonia or, failing this, the selected candidate must demonstrate, or undertake to acquire, within a period not exceeding one year, an adequate command of both official languages of Catalonia.
- Advanced level of English.
- Advanced level of office software tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
The following will be valued
- Specialized training in neurology and, preferably, experience in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology.
- Experience in the acquisition, analysis, and interpretation of EEG recordings, including quantitative analysis techniques.
- Experience in the field of developmental and epileptic encephalopathies and rare diseases.
- Experience or interest in clinical and translational research.
- Participation in clinical trials and knowledge of procedures associated with clinical research.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and research environments.
- Interest and motivation to develop an activity combining neurophysiology and research.
Duties
- Participate in the performance, analysis, and interpretation of electroencephalographic (EEG) studies, including quantitative signal analysis.
- Provide support for clinical and translational research activities carried out in the fields of epilepsy, developmental and epileptic encephalopathies, and rare diseases.
- Participate in the development, follow-up, and monitoring of the Unit's clinical trials, including tasks related to the clinical and neurophysiological assessment of participants.
- Collaborate in the collection, review, and management of clinical and neurophysiological data derived from research projects.
- Participate in the preparation, review, and interpretation of results for presentation at scientific meetings and in publications.
- Collaborate with the different professionals within the Unit and with other research groups, promoting a multidisciplinary and translational approach.
- Support the initiation and development of new research projects related to epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology.
We offer
- Temporary employment contract due to production circumstances, to undertake tasks arising from a temporary and unforeseen increase in workload.
- Annual working time of 1.627.50 hours (37.5 hours/week).
- Salary in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
- Integration into the Epilepsy Unit.
