About the Unit / Group
The Memory Unit at Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau in Barcelona is a multidisciplinary team within the Neurology Department. We specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Our unit integrates clinical care with cutting-edge research to improve early detection, monitor disease progression, and develop new therapeutic strategies.
Through internationally recognized research programs, advanced biomarker platforms, and strong collaborative networks, we are committed to advancing precision medicine and providing the highest quality care to patients and their families.
Essential requirements
- Minimum qualification required: University Degree (Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent).
- Oral and written proficiency in the two official languages of Catalonia or, alternatively, the selected candidate must demonstrate, or commit to acquiring within a maximum period of one year, an adequate command of both official languages.
- Advanced level of English.
- Advanced proficiency in office software tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Skills will be valued
- Laboratory experience related to immune cells, flow cytometry, cell culture, immunocytochemistry, and immunohistochemistry.
- Bioinformatics expertise for large-scale data processing and advanced statistical analysis.
- Previous research stays in international research groups.
- Experience in the field of neurodegenerative diseases.
Functions
- Isolation of immune cells from biofluids of individuals with neurodegenerative diseases to identify novel diagnostic biomarkers.
- Advanced statistical analyses to determine relationships between biomarkers and clinical and biological variables in large cohorts.
- Identification of novel biomarker candidate molecules through multi-omics data analysis.
- Investigation of molecular functions in cell cultures, as well as the presence and distribution of immune cells in human post-mortem tissue.

- Permanent contract linked to the project “Assessing the Role of CSF Immune Cells in ALS.”
- Funded by the UNZUÉ-LUZÓN 2024 Call for ALS Research Projects, evaluated by the Carlos III Health Institute.
- Grant Reference: FUND. LUZON 2024.
- Annual working time of 1,627.5 hours (37.5 hours/week).
- Salary according to the applicable collective agreement.
- Research Group: Neurobiology of Dementias.
