About the Unit / Group

The Epidemiology Service of the Barcelona Public Health Agency (ASPB) is responsible for carrying out the surveillance, analysis, and interpretation of the city’s public health data, aiming to detect trends, identify inequalities, and guide evidence-based policies and preventive interventions. Among its main functions are the surveillance of transmissible diseases, outbreak investigations, and the promotion of epidemiological research.

Regarding sexually transmitted infections (STIs), the Service coordinates the epidemiological surveillance of infections such as syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and lymphogranuloma venereum, among others, within the framework of the Notifiable Diseases system. This work includes the collection, validation, and analysis of data from laboratories, healthcare centers, and other sources, as well as the generation of periodic reports and collaboration with healthcare professionals and community organizations for the prevention, early detection, and control of STIs.

Through this comprehensive approach, the Epidemiology Service contributes to improving the public health response to transmissible diseases, with special attention to reducing social inequalities and addressing populations in situations of higher vulnerability

Essential requirements

Minimum qualification required: Higher Degree Professional Studies (Higher Degree Training Cycle / FPII) or equivalent.
Oral and written proficiency in both official languages of Catalonia, or alternatively, the successful candidate must demonstrate, or commit to acquiring within no more than one year, an adequate command of both official languages of Catalonia.
Intermediate knowledge of office software tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Skills will be valued
Professional experience and training in the field of sexual and reproductive rights and health.
Previous work, whether professional or voluntary, with organizations working to defend sexual and reproductive rights and the LGTBIQ+ community.
Knowledge of the Catalan health system.
Knowledge of the Catalonia notifiable diseases system, specifically regarding sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
Professional experience and training in qualitative methodology.
Interest in working on research lines related to sexual and reproductive rights and health.

Functions

Contribution to the design and development of instruments for studies on healthcare related to sexual and reproductive health.
Support in the management and operational coordination of focus groups for projects in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
Data collection and contact with key stakeholders (organizations and healthcare centres) for identifying research needs or recruiting participants for studies in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
Support in the implementation and monitoring of the phases of research projects in sexual and reproductive health under the supervision of the principal investigator.
Collaboration in the management, cleaning, and statistical analysis of data derived from research projects in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

Annual working hours of 813.75 hours (18.75 hours/week)
Compensation according to ISCIII salary tables
