About the Unit / Group
The Complex Disease Genomics Group at IR Sant Pau is an interdisciplinary translational research team specialized in omics data, molecular biology, statistics, and bioinformatics. It conducts innovative vascular research aimed at translating scientific knowledge into clinical practice, with a strong focus on personalized and precision medicine.
In this context, the objective of this position is to establish a structural role as Research Line Leader (R3B) to ensure the scientific and structural continuity of the line, focused on the pathophysiological and genetic bases of vascular diseases, and to strengthen its competitive positioning.
Essential requirements
- Minimum degree: PhD
- High-quality scientific track record
- Ability to lead a research line within the group’s thematic area
- Proven experience in the relevant research field
- Ability to manage the development of the research line and supervise team members
- Capacity to supervise PhD students
- Oral and written knowledge of the two official languages of Catalonia or commitment to acquire them within one year
- Advanced level of English
- Advanced knowledge of office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) Skills that will be valued
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience leading research lines related to the group’s field
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to establish research synergies across groups and lines
- Leadership and active participation in national and international research networks
- Experience in securing competitive national and international funding
- Contribution to cooperative research projects
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, critical thinking, problem- solving, and project management skills
- Successful completion of the Miguel Servet Program Ability to prioritize effectively and adapt to changing contexts
- Broad knowledge of the group’s research area
- Experience supervising doctoral theses
- Experience as a grant evaluator in national and international panels
Functions
- Consolidate the group’s research line and design projects aligned with strategic goals
- Define short-, medium-, and long-term objectives
- Apply for national and international public and private funding
- Generate new knowledge through rigorous and interdisciplinary approaches
- Publish scientific articles in high-impact indexed journals
- Present results at conferences and scientific forums
- Communicate scientific advances to society through outreach activities
- Train and supervise undergraduate, master’s, and PhD students
- Establish and strengthen collaborations with other research groups
- Participate in scientific networks and interdisciplinary projects
- Ensure applicability of research results and promote knowledge transfer and innovation.
