Clinical Research in Transfusion Medicine

Throughout 2025, we added to our scientific record the participation in five CAR T-cell clinical trials. Three of them are still in the start-up phase, and in two of them the initial visit took place along 2025. In the transfusion field, we have enrolled in the Essencial Project, promoted by the Aquas quality group of the Department of Health. We also contributed to the first edition of the Sickle Cell Disease Guide from Sant Pau Hospital. Regarding participation at conferences, our activity was also noteworthy in terms of abstracts, with presentations in the area of apheresis cell mobilization as well as therapeutic plasma and red blood cell exchanges. Finally, one of our group members presented his final master's work.

• Transfusion: Essential project regarding transfusion yield and patient blood management program. (Ferrer Garrido, Gonzalo Jose; Bosch Llobet, Maria Alba; Medina Marrero, Laura).
• Ferritin follow-up in regular donors. (Sanz Linares, Gabriela; Medina Marrero, Laura).
• Therapeutic erythrocyte exchange with a red blood cell reduction program. (Ferrer Garrido, Gonzalo Jose; Sanz Linares, Gabriela).

Scientific Challenges

• Novel CART clinical trials upcoming: IM060-0001, CARTEMIS-01, CALiPSO-1 CAR iNK Autoimmune Disease, RNAC-MG-002 (AURORA) and IOV-LUN-202 (Oncology).
• Comparative study between therapeutic erythrocyte exchanges with red blood cell reduction versus only exchange. Interhospital study in collaboration with hematology service.
• Essential project regarding transfusion yield and patient blood management program.
