Cardiovascular health. A gender issue
End: Wednesday, 7 October 2026 | 19:00h
On Wednesday, October 07, at 6 pm, Teresa Padró, director of the Cardiovascular Disease Biomarkers research group at IR Sant Pau, will give a talk at at Guinardó Civic Centre entitled «Cardiovascular health. A gender issue».
The biological processes associated with cardiovascular health are not the same in men and women. It is important to bear these differences in mind, as there are specific conditions that predispose women to a higher cardiovascular risk.
In fact, cardiovascular diseases are currently the leading cause of death among women. A better understanding of these diseases and their causes will help reduce their impact on women and eliminate the sex and gender biases that lead us to believe that cardiovascular diseases are primarily a male problem.
