The group focuses on different fields, the most important of which are a) diagnosis and treatment of male/female sexual dysfunction (erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, Peyronie disease, and hypoactive sexual desire); b) diagnosis and treatment of male infertility (genetics of male infertility and reproductive genomics, and oncofertility); c) sexually transmitted infections; and d) endocrinological impairments related to male infertility and sexual dysfunctions (hypogonadism, hyperprolactinemia, and obesity). This activity is oriented to improve medical and surgical approaches for each issue.

Scientific Challenges

  • To expand our knowledge and thereby improve healthcare for patients, we seek to continue active projects, develop new lines of investigation, increase the number of international publications, train professionals and enhance collaboration with hospital and university groups inside and outside the IIB Sant Pau.
  • To promote awareness and divulge sexuality as a health topic and as a main aspect of global health and quality life, inclusive of chronic and ill patients and professionals who require a broad and multidisciplinary approach to their patients.
  • To work up in the relationship with patients' associations and progressively incorporate them as a work team to develop responsible research with relevant results with social impact.
