The members of the board of trustees of the Guidelines International Network (GIN) met these days in Barcelona to celebrate the annual meeting. This network, founded in 2002, currently has more than 100 organizations from 61 countries and is the global benchmark for clinical and public health guidelines.
The main objective of this network is to contribute to improving medical care through the development of quality guidelines. “It is a fundamental tool for the standardization of clinical processes and the transfer of knowledge to clinical practice, in a rigorous and standardized way,” says Dr. Pablo Alonso, director of the Epidemiology, Public Health and Primary Care Area of the Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital Research Institute – IIB Sant Pau and member of the GIN board of directors.
In this meeting, the board of trustees of the GIN works to define the main strategic lines of the organization and the road map of the different working groups. Among the main novelties of this year is the creation of the first specialized magazine in the field of guides, both on methodological aspects and to publish them.
