The building of the Research Institute of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau has obtained the LEED GOLD certification from the U.S. Green Building Council, which identifies the building as an example of energy efficiency and sustainability both in its construction and in its useful life and demonstrates the leadership of the awarded Institution in favour of energy rationality and the transformation towards a more sustainable building.
The U.S. Green Building Council is a U.S. non-profit organization that promotes sustainability in the design, construction and operation of buildings, and is primarily known for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system of guidelines, promoting the construction of green buildings that include environmentally responsible materials, environmentally and people-friendly construction techniques, and compliance with existing public regulations in the field of energy saving and environmental impact reduction.
