Dr. Montse Olivé has been appointed chair of the ERN (European Reference Network) EURO-NMD (Neuromuscular Disorders) expert group on neuromuscular pathology, replacing Professor Bjarne UDD.
As chair of the group, Dr. Olivé will lead the activities aimed at the development of clinical guidelines and standardized diagnostic procedures for muscle biopsies for the ERN Euro-NMD project, as well as the dissemination of knowledge of muscle pathology. She also becomes a full member of the executive committee of the ERN Euro-NMD.
Dr. Olivé has a long career in the study of muscle diseases, both from the clinical and pathological point of view, and is an internationally recognized expert in muscle pathology. She has published more than 100 articles in indexed journals, is the author of two chapters in the book Muscle Disease, Pathology and Genetics, published by the International Society of Neuropathology, and has contributed significantly to the identification and description of new muscle diseases.
Dr. Olivé joined the Neuromuscular Pathology Unit, directed by Dr. Isabel Illa, on September 1st as head of the muscle disease area.
