Dr. Miquel Quer, head of the ENT Cancer Group at the Research Institute of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau – IIB Sant Pau and director of the Otorhinolaryngology Service of the same hospital, was appointed, Sunday 26 March, Numerary Academician of the Royal Academy of Medicine in an event held at its headquarters. In the speech, Dr. Quer was moved, thanked for his appointment and expressed the honor and gratitude of receiving the medal from the excellent Doctor President, Professor Josep Antoni Bombí. After the thanksgiving, he gave a speech on “Laryngeal cancer: 150 years of treatment (From Amara’s law to the glass ceiling)”.
Dr. Quer began his speech by thanking the members of the Academy for his appointment, he had some special words towards the figure of Dr. Josep Esteve i Soler and reviewed his professional career, thanking all those people who have influenced and accompanied him over the years, in his academic, care and personal life. He also made a special mention of the professionals who make up his team from doctors, residents, nurses, secretaries and administrators… and other colleagues from the Hospital and the Autonomous University, not forgetting the patients who put their trust in him. Finally, before delivering his speech on laryngeal cancer, he also had a few words of remembrance for the eight illustrious otolaryngologists who have preceded him as full members of the Academy, whose example he has served guide.
