On Wednesday, February 1 at 7 p.m., Dra. Elena Serrano Carballal, Director of the IIB Sant Pau Biobank, Coordinator of the IR-HSCSP Node of the IIB Sant Pau Biobank and Head of the IIB Sant Pau Biobank and Immunohistochemistry Platform, will give a talk at the Guinardó Civic Center on the role of the IR biobank .
Biobanks are non-profit biomedical research support structures. Its mission is to obtain, process, store, manage and make available to the scientific community human biological samples in order to promote quality biomedical research, respecting the rights of donors.
The Research Institute of the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau has a biobank authorized by the Dept. of Health of the Generalitat of Catalonia. The aim of the IIB Sant Pau Biobank is to increase the accessibility of human biological samples, acting as a link between sample donors, healthcare staff and the scientific community for the harmonization of the rights, duties and interests of each of the groups with the purpose of facilitating the advancement of quality biomedical research in this way.
