19:00 hs New Seminar at CC Guinardó: HIV, the silent epidemic – Dr Rubén Cereijo

The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) affects our immune system and cannot fight other diseases. Fortunately, antiretroviral treatments have been developed that allow people living with HIV to contain the virus’s multiplication very well, making it undetectable and therefore untransmissible. However, they still have some side effects, such as those affecting the heart or fat. Is a vaccine possible? What does antiretroviral treatment have to do with obesity? How can (super) computers help us do research to improve the quality of life of people living with HIV?

Dr. Rubén Cereijo, Investigador postdoctoral R2A, Grup de recerca en VIH i sida, de l’Institut de Recerca Biomèdica Sant Pau – IIB Sant Pau.

Address: Centre Cívic Guinardó, Rda Guinardó, 113-141
