Fighting the bad guys involved in abdominal aortic aneurysm is the challenge that the super-scientists explain in their one-minute video, which received the highest score from the CIBER jury in the #QueSigaLaCiencia call for entries. Lídia Puertas, from the Research Group Regulatory Mechanisms of Cardiovascular Remodeling at the Sant Pau-IIB Sant Pau Research Institute, and Saray Varona, researcher at the CIBER of Cardiovascular Diseases (CIBERCV) at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), thus become superheroines fighting this cardiovascular disease.Lídia Puertas y Saray Varona, premiadas en la primera convocatoria de vídeos #QueSigaLaCiencia del CIBER.
The winning videos will be presented today, November 13, as part of the Madrid Science Week, in a virtual awards ceremony through the CIBER channel on YouTube. In addition, the CIBER, through its Scientific Culture Unit (UCC + i), has prepared a program of online meetings with researchers to publicize other of the works presented, take the opportunity to chat with participants and discuss current issues such as the need for scientific dissemination in women, research in times of pandemic or the beginning of the research career and scientific vocation. There will also be a meeting dedicated to research management.
A campaign to highlight the importance of biomedical research
#QueSigaLaCiencia is a campaign on social networks that aims to transmit to society, from an optimistic point of view, the importance of research and the work carried out by CIBER research staff.
The call -associated to the campaign- has had a high participation of the groups, which have submitted 69 videos of all the scientific areas of the center. The researchers took on the challenge of explaining their research in one minute, giving free rein to their imagination in different formats.
Public Prize #QueSigaLaCiencia in social networks
The campaign launched by the CIBER through its Twitter account @CIBER_ISCIII and which can be followed with the hashtag #QueSigaLaCiencia begins during the Madrid Science Week, but will continue until next year. The public will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite videos and, in this way, a fourth prize will be awarded to the video that gets the most “likes” on Twitter.
